The Joys Of Solar Energy

The entire earth is dreading an energy crisis. Slowly but surely the fossil fuels that most of the world relies on are dwindling. This is one of the reasons that solar energy is becoming more and more popular.

Solar energy is one of the cheapest sources of renewable energy that can be harnessed by your average person. Sure Holland can harness the wind and some countries are making use of water power to generate electricity, but these things are way beyond the reach of most people.

The thing is, solar panels are actually really cost effective and inexpensive. They are also really god for generating the power to heat your geyser.

It has to be said that heating water in a geyser is probably the most common use of solar energy in households around the world. Geysers are one of the heaviest users of power in the average household. This is true even when very little hot water is used.

The fact of the matter is that solar energy can save you a lot of money. This is because, once the solar panels are actually installed it does not cost anything to generate power. The saving you will make on your electricity bills should soon recoup the costs you incurred installing the solar panels.

The trick to making solar energy work for you is to be careful when you use the water in your geyser. You need to be sure that you only use it when the sun is up and the solar panels can use the sun as renewable energy to generate power for your geyser.

Solar panels work on sunlight, so if there is no sunlight to allow them to generate power then the appliances that are powered by your solar panels are going to have to use regular electricity instead. If you allow that to happen too often you are not going to see much savings as a result of using solar energy.

It should be obvious by now that using solar energy can save you a lot of money when it comes to your electricity bills. This is one of the major attractions of solar power. It is good to the environment and it saves you money.

The Efficient LG Solar Modules

In June this year, LG unveiled the next generation of solar modules at the Intersolar 2011 exhibition in Munich.

Showcasing the Mono X&™ and the Multi X&™, both are more efficient than their contemporaries – a whole 8.3% and 4.3% respectively.

Designed and rated to withstand frontal and rear pressure of 5400Pa, as well as the harshest climate conditions, the new solar modules are reliable and also aesthetically pleasing; both available in a number of sizes, with an attractive blue cell and piano black frame, they can fulfil almost any criteria.

Mono X&™

The Mono X&™ runs at 260W making it the most energy efficient of all LG modules in its class. Compared to the standard 240W, it has been designed to be easier and less expensive to install.

Making it not only cost effective long term, but time effective short term.

Multi X&™

Showcasing LG’s most advanced surface treatment, the Multi X’s surface absorbs more sunlight resulting in a greater energy output compared to that of the standard multi-crystaline solar cells.

What are ‘solar modules’ and what do they do?

Solar modules, or panels, use light energy from the sun to generate electricity through an effect called photovoltaic.

Dependent on construction, these photovoltaic panels can produce electricity from a range of sunlight frequencies, but usually they cannot cover the entire solar range, most specifically ultraviolet, infrared and low or diffused light.

More recently, this issue has seen changes made to how these modules are constructed, in some cases where the modules waste sunlight energy; they have instead resulted in higher efficiency if illuminated with monochromatic light.

Another concept is to divide the light into different wavelength ranges – directing the beams onto separate cells.

This concept has been projected to raise efficiency by 50%.

In commercial products, currently, the typically a chieved sunlight conversation rate, i.e. solar panel efficiency, is around 21%.
